Mindfulness
This Meditation is the art of inner listening. My teacher Jon Kabat-Zinn has said and written, “Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non judgmentally. This kind of attention nurtures greater awareness, clarity, and acceptance of present-moment reality.” It is about being fully present in the moment. Just simply observing, non-judging and using your breath to centre yourself.
All we have is this ‘present’ moment…. for the past is gone and the future has not begun
Research over the years has demonstrated that it can lower blood pressure, increase oxygen levels, alertness and the ability to focus. It elicits the ‘relaxation response’ (Herb Benson, 1976) and has also shown through clinical studies to reduce pain levels and increase ones capacity to cope better with their pain and with stressors of life.
I run classes throughout the year for both beginners and those more experienced at mindfulness. If a group setting is not for you then you can book a 1-1 session.

“Mindful Meditation is helping me in so many ways. The chronic headaches I have been suffering from have improved which has meant I have been able to reduce medication substantially. Anxiety levels are also down and negative thoughts are kept in check. I feel a wonderful sense of peace at the end of each meditation session even though I often think that I have ‘failed’ to keep thoughts focused. Learning that perfection is not necessary is just another benefit. “
